Scars

Scars

This week is the always inspiring International Documentary Festival Amsterdam, and my friend @able_amsterdam invited me to join to a movie called Scars – on different facial appearance. Of course I couldn’t say no to that!
It was a beautiful portrait of several people who were either born with a facial different, or experienced an accident which left their face in a different state. Interviewing them while they prepared for a prestigeous photo shoot with a great photographer, they told their experiences with their face. How everytime they underwent surgery, they again needed to adapt to their ‘new’ face, how people stare and ask them inappropriate questions, being vulnerable, starting to date or be in a relationship, and self-acceptance. It deeply touched me how I relate so much to some of their experience. Very emotional, and very touching. If you are willing to change your view on difference, definately try and see it!
